Ingredients

  • 1 cup White granulated sugar
  • 1 cup Water

Instructions

  • Combine Sugar and Water: Mix equal parts sugar and water in a saucepan.
  • Place the saucepan over low to medium heat. Stir the mixture gently until the sugar has completely dissolved.
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow the syrup to cool to room temperature.
  • Once cooled, transfer the simple syrup to a clean bottle or jar. It can be stored in the refrigerator and typically remains fresh for about a month, sometimes longer.

Notes

No-Cook Version:  For an even simpler approach, you can combine equal parts sugar and hot water in a jar and shake it until the sugar dissolves. This method doesn't require a stove and works well if you're in a hurry or making a small amount.
Flavor Variations:  You can infuse simple syrup with flavors like herbs (mint, basil), spices (cinnamon, cloves), citrus zest, ginger, or fruit. Add the flavoring elements while heating the syrup and let them steep as it cools, then strain.
