i went from 130 pounds to 146.8 during the holidays and am ready to get back to losing weight. I put together a list of empowering things that I can say to myself when I’m having a week moment and wanted to share them with anyone who needs help staying strong during this journey.
It’s completely understandable to experience weight fluctuations, especially during the holidays! It’s great that you’re ready to refocus on your goals. Here are some empowering things you can tell yourself during a weak moment, categorized for different situations:
When you’re craving something unhealthy:
“I am in control of my choices. This craving is temporary, and I can choose something that nourishes my body instead.”
“My health and well-being are worth more than this momentary craving. I’ve made progress, and I don’t want to undo it.”
“I can acknowledge this craving without acting on it. I’ll drink some water, go for a walk, or find a healthy distraction.”
“I am strong. I can overcome this craving. I’ve done it before, and I can do it again.”
“One treat won’t ruin everything, but consistently making healthy choices will get me where I want to be. I’ll enjoy a small portion later, mindfully.” (If you decide to indulge a little, plan it and savor it.)
When you feel discouraged or like you’ve slipped up:
“Progress isn’t always linear. Everyone has setbacks. The important thing is that I’m getting back on track now.”
“One meal or one day doesn’t define my journey. I can make healthier choices starting with my next meal.”
“I am learning and growing. This is a process, and I am getting better every day.”
“I am not perfect, and that’s okay. I am still worthy of reaching my goals.”
“I am resilient. I can bounce back from this. I’ve got this!”
When you’re tempted to skip a workout:
“My body deserves to be strong and healthy. This workout is an investment in my future self.”
“I will feel so much better after I exercise. I’ll have more energy and feel more accomplished.”
“Even a short workout is better than no workout. I can do 10 minutes and still feel the benefits.”
“I am capable of achieving my fitness goals. I just need to take it one step at a time.”
“I am building healthy habits, and consistency is key. I can do this!”
When you’re focusing on the number on the scale:
“The scale doesn’t tell the whole story. I am focusing on how I feel, my energy levels, and my overall health.”
“I am making progress, even if the scale doesn’t reflect it yet. I am building muscle and making healthier choices.”
“I am more than a number on the scale. My worth is not defined by my weight.”
“I am celebrating my non-scale victories, like how my clothes fit, my increased energy, and my improved mood.”
“I trust the process. Consistent healthy habits will lead to long-term, sustainable results.”
