  • 1 large red cabbage
  • 3-4 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 2-3 garlic cloves minced (optional)
  • Balsamic vinegar optional
  • Fresh thyme or rosemary optional

Instructions
 

Preheat the Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). This high heat will help in caramelizing the cabbage steaks, giving them a nice, roasted flavor.

Prepare the Cabbage:

  • Remove the loose outer leaves of the cabbage. Place the cabbage on its base and carefully slice it into 1-inch thick steaks. Be gentle, as the steaks can fall apart easily.

Season the Steaks:

  • Brush both sides of each cabbage steak with olive oil. Sprinkle salt, pepper, and minced garlic over each steak. You can also add some fresh herbs like thyme or rosemary for additional flavor.

Bake:

  • Arrange the cabbage steaks in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Roast in the oven for 20-25 minutes, then carefully flip each steak and roast for another 15-20 minutes or until the edges are crispy and browned.

Notes

For an extra flavor boost, drizzle balsamic vinegar over the steaks before serving. The acidity of the vinegar will complement the sweetness of the roasted cabbage.
