Refreshing Watermelon Smoothie

One of our favorite summer smoothies.

  • Prep: 5 mins
  • Yields: 2 smoothies or 1 large one.


2 cups cubed, frozen watermelon

1 cup water

1 tablespoon of maple syrup, honey, or stevia,to taste

A few basil or mint leaves (optional)


1Blend water and watermelon cubes until smooth.

2Add the sweetener of your choice, basil (or mint) and blend for about 10 seconds until you achieve a slushy consistency.

3Serve immediately.

Cube and freeze chunks of watermelon (without the skin) ahead of time. I keep some ready in the freezer all summer.

Jazz it up with accents (watermelon stars) and a sprig of mint for parties.
