Soft Molasses Cookies

These soft molasses cookies (My grandma's specialty) are packed with flavor that bring a smile to every bite.

1 cup dark brown sugar

1 cup butter (softened)

1/4 cup Dark Molasses

1 large egg

1 Teas vanilla extract

2 1/2 cups flour (all purpose)

2 teas baking soda

1 teas ground ginger

1 teas ground cinnamon

1 teas nutmeg

1/2 teas salt

1/4 cup granulated sugar (to roll cookie dough in)


1Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

2Place parchment paper on a large baking sheet and set aside. If you don't have parchment paper, spray the baking sheet with cooking spray.

3In a large bowl, beat together the brown sugar, butter, molasses, egg, and vanilla extract with a mixer until well combined.

4Mix together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, and salt and add to ingredients above.

5Shape the dough into 1 to 1 1/2 inch balls.

6Roll the balls in granulated sugar

7Place cookie dough balls 2 inches apart on the baking sheet.

8Bake for 10 to 15 minutes until set.

9Remove cookies and place on a wire rack to cool.
