Easy Au Gratin Potatoes

Great potato dish and it's super easy too. Great as a side or main dish with vegetables.

  • Cook: 1 hr 30 mins
  • Yields: 4 to 6 servings


3 tablespoons butter

3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1-1/2 teaspoons salt

1/8 teaspoon freshly ground pepper

2 cups whole milk

1 cup shredded Parmesan (or cheddar) cheese

5 cups thinly sliced peeled potatoes (6 medium)

1/2 cup of chopped onion


1Preheat oven to 350°

2In a large saucepan, melt butter over low heat.

3Stir in the salt, pepper and flour until smooth.

4Gradually add the milk

5Bring to a boil and cook until thickened, stirring constantly.

6Remove from heat;

7stir in the cheese until it melts

8Add the onions and potatoes

9Pour in a greased 2 quart baking dish.

10Cover and bake 1 hour.

11Uncover and bake an additional 30 minutes or until potatoes are tender.
